Al Falah Mosque

Al Falah Mosque

Al Falah MosqueThe Al Falah Mosque is a purpose built place of prayer, worship and teaching for the muslim community of the Deane area of Bolton in the north of England . The Mosque is a large building on two floors . Large open areas on theground and first floor allow the congregations to gather. The first floor is supported in the centre by three sections of structural steelwork. Numerous windows on the ground and first floor allow a large amount of natural light into the building. The external decor of the building reflects the purpose and the cultural identity of Islam.

Deane , Bolton ,Lancashire UK.

During the construction, Dresser were invited to suggest designs to hide the structural support steelwork on the ground floor, provide decorative window surrounds, timber mouldings and a design outline for the mehrab's on the ground and first floor.

(The mehrab is a prayer focal point for the congregation where the immam or priest ,addresses the audience.)
(The mehrab is positioned accurately pointing to Mecca.)

Vertical structural steelwork downstairs was hidden using Dresser CL18 MDF columns , Dresser 154E footbases and mould 47 curved cornices. A marble finish was then applied.

These columns whilst functional help to preserve the overall feeling of space in the room.

This mehrab was constructed using Dresser CL12 MDF columns split into halves with halved Dresser 154B footbases. The columns were fitted with halves of Dresser no 47 cornice. The upper section was formed from MDF sheet material and Dresser cornice no 47 was applied around the top at ceiling level. Flexible plywood was used to form the curved back of this Mehrab. The whole unit was then given a contrasting marble effect finish.
Ground floor mekrah finished in contrasting marble effect The ground floor Mehrab is a little smaller than the first floor. Dresser CL8 MDF columns were split in half to form the pilaster column effect. The construction is similar to the upstairs unit.
